Basketball Skills Development

A year-round Basketball Skills Development program, combined with strength and conditioning and Mental Edge training to improve overall athleticism and performance.

In Tony’s years as a college player, he did hoop camps with some of the best coaches in America—Rick Pitino, Bob Knight, Digger Phelps, Pete Gillen, and Rick Barnes. He has taken a combination of theirs and other drills and teaching points and has used them to develop an effective program, so every young player gets the concentrated wisdom of the field.

Tony’s Basketball Offensive Skills training is comprised of:

  • Analyzing and improving mechanics & shooting
  • Discovering comfortable range for shooting within the court
  • Creating individual moves from post-play, to mid-post, to guard play: helping the individual player find the moves that work well for them and that they can execute effectively
  • Mastery of skill – helping each player develop the skills needed to be the best in their position
  • Strength and conditioning to improve overall athleticism
  • Confidence building (“The Mental Edge”) to improve player competitive performance

Tony develops the athlete’s unique training plan through a personal evaluation of the player: shooting, dribbling, ball handling, footwork, and mechanics. There is no “one size fits all” for basketball training. If certain current techniques work well for the player, then we don’t need to fix them—what we want to fix are the techniques that don’t work or that could be improved through a different strategy.

Individual assessments will often include recorded video analysis so a player can see their mechanics in slow-motion and understand what habits need modification or correction. Tony will also provide specific training exercises to develop skills or deficiencies

Basketball Offensive Skills training is available in one-on-one or group sessions.
